For several months I have been trawling the High Street and searching the Internet to find a stylish wine refrigerator to fill the newly created gap in my remodelled kitchen. I found that many wine refrigerators lacked attention to detail and were of poor quality. Some had doors which were hinged in such a way that even when fully open, it would be difficult to remove shelves or manoeuvre bottles and others had cheap flimsy plastic shelving. Finally, I came across the Kalamera KR- 21ASSE wine refrigerator. My first impression was that it looked stylish, with its stainless steel door trim, sleek stainless steel handle and smart Beech wood slide-out wine racks. I was also pleased to see that it had two temperature zones, which would allow me to store my white wines at the top at 7° C and my reds at the bottom at 18° C; 21 bottles in total! I ordered my wine refrigerator and was impressed with the speed of delivery. Once unpacked, I was very impressed with the stylish, high quality appearance of this product. The door handle was quickly and easily secured onto the door of the fridge and I was pleased to see that the door opened fully, causing no obstruction to the sliding beech shelves. The door shut with a solid, quality feel and a strong suction seal. It was easy to slide the fridge into position and switch it on. It was then equally easy to use the stylish digital controls to set the desired temperatures for the two zones of the fridge. Over the next few hours, we checked the clear blue digital display regularly. Within a matter of hours our chosen temperatures had been reached within both zones of the fridge. We did, however, decided to wait a full 24 hours before sampling the wine, just to give the wine a fair chance to reach the same temperature as the air inside the two zones of the cabinet. Well worth the wait, our first bottle of white from our new chiller was perfectly chilled! Whilst temperatures are stabilising, there is a little noise from the fridge, but now that our desired temperatures have been reached the fridge is fairly quiet. It is easy to remove the beech wine racks from the chiller, in order to accommodate larger bottles, such as Champagne and Prosecco. These ideally require a depth equivalent to two racks, to allow ease of movement. Great to have such flexibility with the racks as we aren’t drinking Champagne everyday! All in all, I am very happy with my Kalamera KR- 21ASSE wine refrigerator. It stores my wines at appropriate temperatures, is well constructed and stylish, is easy to operate, very quiet, has a clear illuminated digital display and flexible storage space. Each chamber of the fridge is also clearly illuminated by a blue LED light. This contributes to the smart contemporary appearance of the product. These lights can, however, be switched off, should a more discreet look be preferred. Brilliant!
